Return to South America

View Trav vs. South America on rhinoc's travel map.

Well in true form whilst pondering my disillusionment with Greece, a place that I had wanted to visit since tales of Alexander the Great I decided that I would venture back to South America once more. As much as I had spent some time there last year there was still more to explore, more to see and certainly more to experience, so with this in mind I booked tickets back to Argentina.

Firstly I would have a few weeks at home to recharge the batteries, spend some time explaining to my niece Eloise who the uncle was that kept buying her presents and disperse my backpack. A month seemed like ages to be home but before I knew it I was back at the airport leaving again having caught up with most people and come to terms with the creature comforts and predictability that is life in Perth. With the knowledge that these things will await me on return I was once again off to the new world without the nervous excitement of an undiscovered world upon landing perhaps. This time a semi familiar city awaits in Buenos Aires, a city with a lot of charm and plenty to like about it.

The main objective of my trip however is to fill in the pieces I missed last time and further explore the culture of this vibrant and still somewhat mysterious new world. This will hopefully mean heading to the unvisited north and very south along the way as well as return to some places and seem them in a different manner.

The first few days would be spent in Buenos Aries aclimatising to the continent, weather and language once more and also putting together a plan to see some of the vast country. Staying at the same hostel it was good to run into a few people from the last time I was here who are now living in the city. A couple of days drifted by walking around the many parks of the city and taking in couple of cafes, sampling the wine and steak on offer as part of the “menu of the day” option. Having settled into the city its now time to venture off to Mendoza, the wine valley of Argentina and also some supposedly good hiking on offer.
